Kids & Teens
A place to feel understood, build confidence, and grow. My background in elementary education, a master’s in school counseling, and a master’s in family therapy shapes how I support children, teens, and their families. Together, we make room for worries, big feelings, and the strengths already within your child.
1
Build strengths and feel safe
We begin by getting to know your child and what helps them feel supported. Trusted people, favorite activities, creativity, and calming skills can become resources they can draw on. Sessions are adapted to their age, interests, and readiness, with space to build trust before exploring difficult experiences.
2
Make room for worries and feelings
Together, we unpack worries about school, friendships, family changes, and difficult experiences. Children may use stories, drawing, or other creative activities to express what words cannot yet hold. Teens have room to explore identity, relationships, and pressure in a way that respects their voice.
3
Work with difficult beliefs
Experiences can leave a young person feeling “I’m not good enough,” “It’s my fault,” or “I’m not safe.” When clinically appropriate, EMDR and parts work informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS) can help us explore these beliefs with care. We begin with preparation and resources, follow your child’s readiness, and make room for breaks.
4
Practice for life beyond therapy
We practice imagining and responding to future situations with greater confidence—an EMDR future template may be part of this work. Parents and caregivers can help carry skills into home and school. We discuss caregiver involvement, privacy, and its limits at the beginning, balancing family support with your child or teen’s growing independence.
